Edward Snyder (alias Henry F. Sands, Edward Fitzwilliam Strathmore) was born and raised in Marion, Marion, Ohio and lived on Silver Street just 1.5 miles from President Harding's Victorian home on Mt. Vernon Street. Edward was the son of Murray Snyder and Margaret Fitzgerald Snyder. Margaret Synder's parents, who both died in Marion, Ohio, had immigrated from Ireland. Murray & Margaret were married on 26 August 1891 in Marion and Warren & Florence Harding were married on 8 July 1891 in Marion. The Snyders were Catholic and the Hardings were Baptist. Murray Snyder worked and managed Marion's Telegraph Office while Warren Harding owned the Marion Daily Star Newspaper. Margaret & Murray had 10 children and Edward was the 2nd oldest.
